The etiology of anterior open bite is complex and multifactorial. It can develop either from oral habits, lymphatic tissue overgrowth, tongue position or genetic predisposition. Although growing patients can be treated with interceptor orthodontic appliances, the treatment of adult patients presents a more complex picture, as growth ceases and habit-related repercussions become definitive. Contemporary orthodontics has evolved significantly and with it the treatment options for malocclusions considered complex and difficult to correct. In the past, planning only focused on the extraction of posterior teeth or orthognathic surgery. From the moment that skeletal anchorage became part of the daily life of orthodontists, more specifically, mini-implants and mini-plates, promising results were achieved. The use of aesthetic aligners to correct negative overbite is also considered a treatment option for mild cases of open bite. The objective of this work was to carry out a literature review to identify the different methods of correction of anterior open bite.
