Resin cement and its characteristics: a bibliographic research

Abstract

The cementation procedure is a very important step for the clinical success of the work, as well as the other steps from initial preparations, making provisional, molding, making the prosthetic part, and the choice of the cementing agent are related to the predictability and longevity of prosthetic or rehabilitated work. Resin cements have advantages, such as high resistance, hardness, low solubility in oral fluid and micromechanical union to enamel and dentin. Among the disadvantages are technical sensitivity, short working time and difficulty in removing excess work margin, however, there is no ideal cementing material that meets all requirements in a single material, it is at the time of selecting the agent cement that will choose the most suitable. In this context, the present study aims to carry out a bibliographic research on its use, its characteristics, properties, and benefits when compared to other materials used in the same procedure.
