Class II malocclusion is the most frequent sagittal discrepancy and treatment includes a variety of alternatives, the most used to treat it, when of mandibular origin, is the use of fixed mandibular propulsion appliances. The aim of this study was to evaluate the dentoskeletal changes promoted by the Forsus, Jasper Jumper, Herbst and APM mandibular protraction appliances in patients before or during pubertal growth peak. This is a systematic literature review, obtained through the MEDLINE, PubMed, The Cochrane Library and SciELO databases, with relevant articles from the last 5 years. It was concluded that the four appliances studied promote similar dental and skeletal changes, the main ones being restriction of anterior maxillary growth, mandibular growth, lower incisor proclination and upper incisor retroclination, in addition to a significant improvement in the maxillomandibular relationship and reduction of overbite and overjet.
