Abstract

Internal root resorption is characterized by the progressive loss of tooth substance starting in the root canal wall as a result of clastic activity. The objective of the research is through a qualitative exploratory study in the form of a literature review to analyze the internal resorption, addressing its characteristics and diagnosis. Successful clinical outcome is determined by early and appropriate diagnosis of root resorption. Early detection is important using conventional radiographs or cone beam computed tomography. The diagnosis of internal tooth resorption is the determining factor for clinical success and preservation of the dental element. Professional knowledge about etiological factors, characteristics and use of efficient radiographic methods is essential.
