Abstract

Class II malocclusion is a common condition in which the upper teeth are positioned in front of the lower teeth, resulting in misaligned bite. Orthodontic treatment for correcting this malocclusion can be performed with different techniques, such as tooth extractions, fixed appliances, and functional orthopedic appliances. This monograph reviews the existing literature on the use of Balters' Bionator device for correcting Class II malocclusion. Several studies have been found that demonstrate its effectiveness in correcting this condition, especially in growing patients. The results of these studies indicate that the use of the orthopedic Bionator appliance is an effective and safe option, and can significantly improve the position of the teeth and the relationship between the dental arches, resulting in an aesthetic and functional improvement of the bite. However, it is important to remember that the success of the treatment depends on several factors, such as the patient's age, the severity of the malocclusion, and the patient's compliance with the treatment guidelines.
