Class II malocclusion has been considered a distinct clinical entity formed by a series of unique characteristics that distinguish it from the rest of malocclusions. There are several therapeutic possibilities for the treatment of Class II malocclusion, the method choice will depend on several factors, including in relation to the biomechanics used, to reduce undesirable side effects and more predictable results. Thus, the objective of this research was to discuss the treatment of class II malocclusion without extractions. The research consisted of a literature review. Inclusion criteria were articles published in Portuguese, English and Spanish, which portrayed the treatment of class II malocclusion without extractions, and published preferably in the last 10 years. Exclusion criteria were other types of malocclusions, or malocclusion with extraction, or that had been published for more than 10 years. The methods for treating Class II malocclusion are pendulum appliances, Herbst, Forsus, Carriere's distalizer, interproximal wear, use of Class II intermaxillary elastics and temporary anchorage devices. The trend towards the correction of Class II malocclusion without extractions is the use of fixed functional orthopedic appliances that do not depend on patient cooperation. The research leads us to conclude that mandibular thrusters are a great choice for Class II correction due to their effectiveness and reduced treatment time. And that the use of the Jasper Jumper appliance, when used together with the fixed appliance, promotes the correction of Class II, division 1 malocclusion in patients at the beginning of treatment.
