Comparative study between conventional molding and digital intraoral scanning: a literature review

The models of high value tools in orthodontics enable the study and evaluation of occlusion and are a fundamental diagnosis and planning, despite the models of dress that are used in the clinic and are possible in a short time. reality of clinical daily life due to great advances in the area. The aim of this study was to analyze and compare the positives and negatives between conventional modeling and digital modeling technique. A literature review was carried out with a search in the databases SciELO, Cochrane, Bireme e PubMed/MEDLINE on the topic, with 25 scientific articles selected. Plaster models are still the most used clinically due to their low cost, easy access, but virtual models are already proven reliable, the breakthroughs and new discoveries made possible or the cheapness and popularization of these technologies.
