Abstract

There are a lot of patients who need root retainers in clinical practice, whether due to fracture of the dental crown or extensive caries. Due to this great demand, it is essential to know about fiberglass posts and what is the best technique to use. This aim of this study was to demystify fiberglass posts. A search was performed in the PubMed and SciELO databases using the keywords ‘intraradicular post’, ‘glass fiber post’ and ‘resin cement’. The conclusion of this study is that we need more studies to make it clearer which protocol to use, but there are a large number of studies indicating the use of dual resin cement for cementation and that thinner cement layers guarantee better results in the long term.
