Abstract

The upper posterior region of the maxilla is characterized as one of the regions that make implant placement difficult due to insufficient bone thickness due to reabsorption of the alveolar ridge and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus in edentulous patients. Among the reconstruction procedures, lifting the floor of the maxillary sinus using the lateral window technique, using bovine hydroxyapatite bone grafts, is one of the best options for obtaining sufficient bone height for implant installation. This work aimed to describe a clinical case of lifting the floor of the maxillary sinus in the region of 25 and 26 using the lateral window technique in the specialization course at the Instituto Catarinense de Odontologia e Saúde, in the city of Joinville/SC. CT scans before and after surgery and photos of the surgical steps performed were presented. The bone graft used was Lumina Bone Porous Large - Criteria and collagen membrane from the brand Lumina Coat - Criteria. Bone gain was considered satisfactory for the installation of implants at a later stage.
