The verticalization of molars is something very routine in the clinical part of orthodontics, specifically for patients who have an indication for prosthetic rehabilitation. One of the main points taken into account in the verticalization of molars is the unwanted effects that this mechanic offers to achieve the final goal. Extrusion is one of the main consequences, and can thus cause premature contact, thus providing the opening of the bite. The mechanics of molar verticalization require caution, because the treatment is very delicate and complex, but with the use of mini-implants in orthodontics, this mechanics has become increasingly an effective and predictable treatment. The objective of this study was, through a literature review, to evaluate the importance of the use of mini-implants as well as their use in the process of molar verticalization during orthodontic treatment. Therefore, it was possible to conclude through this bibliographic study that the use of mini-implants in the verticalization of mandibular molars has become increasingly useful because it presents benefits, reducing undesirable effects such as tooth extrusion, inclinations and periodontal problems in the results compared to conventional techniques. As a result, treatments are getting faster and faster, increasing the predictability of good results.
