Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in "Comments to the editor").
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is 1,5 spaced; uses a font Arial 12; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines
The Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry, which is published every four months, is intended for the publication of original articles on basic and applied research, clinical case reports and literature reviews in the area of Dentistry.
1 General standards
1.1 Manuscripts submitted for publication must be unpublished and written in Portuguese, English or Spanish, and their simultaneous submission to another journal is not allowed.
1.2 Arbitration criteria
1.2.1 Manuscripts will be first evaluated for compliance with the publication rules, and in case of inadequacy, they will be returned to the authors for appropriate adjustments.
1.2.2 Approved manuscripts will be submitted to the Editor or Co-editor for review as to the scope of the journal. Once approved, they will be evaluated for merit and scientific method by two members of the Editorial Board from institutions other than the origin of the manuscript.
1.2.2.1 The names of the reviewers will remain confidential and they will not be aware of the authors of the manuscript under review.
1.2.3 When a revision of the original is necessary, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for modification.
1.3 The information and concepts contained in the manuscript and the accuracy of the references are the responsibility of the authors.
1.4 The Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry reserves all copyright in the published article.
1.5 Once the manuscript is published, it will not be returned.
1.6 Based on the Declaration of Helsinki, manuscripts that present experimental studies in humans or animals must be accompanied by a copy of the opinion of the Ethics Committee of the Institution of Origin, or other body accredited by the National Health Council.
1.6.1 In experiments with animals, the guidelines of the national research councils on the use and care of laboratory animals should be followed, and when they involve surgical procedures, in Material and Methods, they should describe the evidence that the anesthetic dosage produced an adequate effect and for the time necessary to conduct the surgical procedure.

1.7.1 Term of Admission of Manuscript to Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry
The corresponding author, on his name and the names of the other authors, submits the manuscript to the Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry for publication. You declare as a corresponding author that the other authors agree and are responsible for the submission of the manuscript to the Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry. In accordance with the use of the Creative Commons CC BY license and transfers to the Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry all the rights and interests of the manuscript as of the date of submission. He reports that the manuscript is original and does not contain falsified data, plagiarism or fraud, it was not published in other newspapers, either in print or electronic format. Poor or fraudulent. The authors will assume responsibility, exempting the Journal of Multidisciplinary Dentistry from any allegation, costs, legal fees, indemnities or license costs, he declares, even though the study whose results are reported in the manuscript was carried out observing the current policies, in the institutions to which the authors are linked, relating to the use of humans, material derived from humans and animals. It certifies that it does not have any commercial or associative interest that represents a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted manuscript. In the case of non-acceptance of the manuscript for publication, that section of copyright will be automatically revoked.
2 Category of manuscripts
2.1 Basic and applied research - presents unpublished results of a research (Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion).
2.2 Literature review - analyzes and describes the contributions of literature in a particular specialty (Introduction, Literature Review, Discussion and Conclusion).
2.3 Clinical case report - discloses experiences based on the study of peculiar cases and/or new techniques (Introduction, Case Report, Discussion and Conclusion).
2.4 Text of the elements that make up the manuscripts
2.4.1 Introduction - description of the nature of the problem and its meaning, justification, objective(s) and hypothesis(s) of the manuscript, citing only relevant references.
2.4.2 Material and Methods - detailed description of the method, materials and techniques used. Identify the appliances and equipment used, indicating in brackets the name, city, state and country of the manufacturer. Accurately identify all drugs and chemicals used, including generic name(s), dose(s) and route(s) of administration. Give references to established methods, including statistical methods. Describe statistical methods in detail and define statistical terms, abbreviations and symbols. Specify the computer software used. Literature review manuscripts should include a description of the methods used to locate, select, extract and synthesize the data.
2.4.3 Results - presentation of results in a logical and direct way, without subjective interpretation. Do not repeat in the text data presented in tables and figures. Use graphics as an alternative to tables with many entries. Statistical data should be subjected to appropriate analysis. When the data is summarized in the Results section, give the numerical results not only as their derivatives (e.g. percentages), but also as absolute numbers from which the derivatives were calculated and specify the statistical methods used to analyze them. Avoid the use of technical terms in statistics, such as "random" (which implies a randomization mechanism), "normal", "significant", "correlations" and "sample". Where scientifically appropriate, analyses of data by variables such as age and sex should be included.
2.4.4 Discussion - interpretation of results, relating them to existing knowledge and those obtained in other relevant studies, avoiding hypotheses not based on the results.
2.4.5 Conclusion - should be relevant to the proposed objectives and justified in the results obtained, avoiding unqualified statements and conclusions not adequately corroborated by the data. The hypothesis of the manuscript should be answered or new hypotheses should be established when justified.
3 Structure of the manuscript
3.1 Title - presented in Portuguese, English and Spanish, and should be concise and contain only the information necessary to identify the content of the manuscript.
3.2 Authorship - name(s) of the author(s) in full, indicating a institutional affiliation in full, country, ORCID and e-mail per author. The address, e-mail and telephone number of the corresponding author must be indicated. Examples of institutional affiliation:
- Departamento de Diagn´óstico e Cirurgia. Faculdade de Odontologia de Araraquara. Universidade Estadual Paulista.
- Facultad de Odontología. Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
- School of Dentistry. University of Birmingham.
3.3 Resumo - concise and sequential presentation, in a single paragraph in a structured manner, highlighting objectives, methods, results and conclusion. It should have a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 250 words. It should not contain citations and abbreviations.
3.4 Abstract - abstract presented in English, following the same characteristics of the abstract in Portuguese.
3.5 Resumen - abstract presented in Spanish, following the same characteristics of the abstract in Portuguese.
3.6 Palavras-chave - indication of three index terms, using the Descritores em Ciências da Saúde – DeCS, available at: https://decs.bvsalud.org
3.6.1 Example:
Dental implants. Osseointegration. Oral rehabilitation.
3.7 Keywords - keywords presented in English.
3.8 Palabras clave - keywords presented in Spanish.
3.9 Development - presented according to the categories of the manuscript (item 2).
3.10 Acknowledgments - optional, they may be addressed to institutions or people who effectively collaborated in the manuscript, in a paragraph no longer than three lines.
3.11 References - the manuscript should contain only references effectively cited in the text, not exceeding the citation of 40 references.
3.11.1 References should be ordered and numbered following citation in the text.
3.11.2 The following will not be accepted as manuscript references in the process of writing, monographs of graduation and specialization, dissertations, theses or abstracts presented in events.
3.11.3 The accuracy of the references is the sole responsibility of the authors.
3.11.4 References should be standardized according to the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), in the publication Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, available at: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/bsd/uniform_requirements.html

4.1 Citation - in the text indicate only the reference number in superscript form, where the sequential numbers must be separated by hyphen and the random ones by comma.

5 Formatting
5.1 Text - should be typed in Arial 12 font, justified alignment, margins of 3 cm, 1,5 spacing between lines, on sheet size A4.
5.2 Tables - should be inserted in the text immediately after its citation, centered on the page and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Tables should have their side edges open and legends should be included at the top.
5.3 Figures - must be cited in the text, inserted in the text immediately after its citation and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Legends should be included at the bottom.
6 Manuscript submission fee
6.1 Manuscripts submitted after 03.01.2022 must pay the submission fee through the email secretaria05@facop.com.br
6.2 The submission fee will be charged per manuscript submitted, therefore, not from each author.
6.3 It is important to note that the amount paid in the submission will not be refunded in case the manuscript is not accepted for publication. The amount will be considered a contribution to the evaluation process.
